10.2 The player’s ball is touching an out of bound wire fence. The player hits the fence on the Out of Bounds side with the head of the club and the ball moves a few feet. The club was never in contact with the ball. What is the decision?
ANSWER: There is no penalty. Interpretation 10.1a/3 says that Other material may intervene between the ball and the clubhead during the stroke.
10.3 A player uses a caddie. Also, his mother carries for him an umbrella, his lunch, his rain gear and a few bottles of water. This situation lasts 4 holes. What is the decision?
ANSWER: Under Rule 10.3, Whether or not the player has a caddie, any other person who walks or rides along with the player or who carries other things for the player (such as a rain suit, umbrella or food) is not considered the player’s caddie.
10.4 Two players share the same caddie. On a Par 3, Player A asks the caddie what club Player B used and the caddie gives him the answer. Which player will be penalized if any?
ANSWER: There is no restrictions in the Rules of Golf for a caddie to give any information to help his player or players.
