I have a lot of readers asking me to put again some questions and answers like I did earlier this year. The last time we left with rule 16. Relief from abnormal course conditions, Dangerous Animal Condition, embedded ball.
16.1 A ball is near an out of bounds fence and the fence will interfere with his stance. Does the player have a free relief?
16.2 The player’s ball is 10 feet away from an irrigation box, and the box is in direct line between the ball and the flagstick. What are the player’s options?
16.3 In a penalty area, a pumping station is interfering with the player’s swing. What are his options?
16.4 The player’s ball lies in an animal hole. A huge bush is at the entrance of the hole. If the player gets a free relief, where is the reference point?
16.5 The ball lies in temporary water in a bunker full of water. There is no dry area in the bunker. What are the options?
16.6 The player’s ball is on the green, 15 feet from the hole with temporary water between the position of the ball and the hole. The nearest point without interference at 15 feet would be outside the green in the rough. There is a point on the green at 20 feet from the hole without any interference from temporary water. Can the player place his ball on the green at 20 feet from the hole?
GREEN READING BOOK
PGA Tour announced a few weeks ago that they will restrict the use of green reading books. To speed up play, only the official books will be permitted. I am sure the players will protest and probably the Tour will change course. I will wait a few weeks before giving you more information…..to follow.
